Colorful manipulatives and engaging Student Activity Books will show students that learning phonics can be a fun part of their journey toward literacy.
In Level C, students will use the following Reading Rods Kits to build phonics skills:
- Phonics Word-Building
- Prefixes, Suffixes, and Root Words
- Simple Sentences

Target skills for students in Level C include:
- Adding, deleting, or replacing sounds to make or change words
- Identifying
and applying knowledge of phonics
elements
such as word families, vowel combinations,
and consonant blends
- Using
spelling patterns, such as CVC, CVCe,
and CVVC; and
spelling rules, such as consonant doubling,
to create words
- Determining
meanings of unfamiliar words by using
knowledge
of base words and affixes
- Identifying
and using parts of speech
- Forming
sentences using basic sentence patterns
such as NV, NVN, NVAdj.
