Algebra: Making the Manipulative Connection Workshop

Confidence will soar as teachers discover the power of Algeblocks to introduce and explore algebraic concepts! Participants will benefit from this half-day workshop

designed to provide effective teaching strategies for using manipulatives to encourage students with hands-on, visual investigations. Each participant receives an Algeblocks Teacher's Resource Binder for Middle School or Algeblocks Teacher's Resource Binder for High School and an Algeblocks Study Group Set for immediate classroom application. Workshops are available for either middle school or high school grade levels.

As part of each workshop, teachers will:

• Explore the Algeblocks to better understand the relationships between and among the blocks.
• Discover the natural connections between algebra and geometry.
• Use the model to explore integer relationships; name polynomial expressions; build polynomial expansions; explore the concepts of area, perimeter, and volume; and solve equations.
• Evaluate algebraic expressions in a meaningful way.
• Leave with an Algeblocks Study Group Set and a Teacher’s Resource Binder filled with ready-to-use, grade-appropriate activities!
